Some of the best views in Joshua Tree are off the dirt roads that meander through the middle of the park (near Hidden Valley). One of my favorite hikes (and a nice and short 2.5 miles round trip) is the Lucky Boy Vista Trail near the Pine City Backcountry Area off of the Geology Tour Road. This easy trail leads up to views over the desert range and has some interesting mining history along the way. It was the perfect way to stretch our legs after riding around the roads for awhile. On our way out from the park for the night, we settled into some warm clothes to enjoy the sunset color that lingers across the desert landscape.
